Description
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in the discipline preferred, or a combination of Bachelor's Degree in a similar subject matter plus professional work experience in the subject matter. Previous experience tutoring or teaching in the subject matter preferred. Understanding of learning disabilities and language differences with a desire to achieve positive outcomes. Must be able to communicate well with students.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides one on one tutoring to students In a specific subject matter and integrates study and learning strategies to promote independent learning.
  • Maintains a consistent weekly schedule of work hours in the Learning Center for tutoring appointments; arrives on time.
  • Consistently exhibits excellent interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to students from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Normal environment found in an educational setting. Limited exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required. Hours may be extended or reduced at any time to meet the needs of the department. 

Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Able to lift 10+ pounds, periodically. Even though the weight lifted may be a small amount, a job is in this category when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls. Job requires the ability to reach, handle, finger, feel, talk, hear, see, squat, and kneel. 

Work Hours: 
20+/- hours per week. Generally Monday-Thursday; varied from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Hours may be extended at Director's discretion to meet the needs of the department. 

Special Requirements:
This position requires that the employee hold and continue to maintain a clean criminal history background. In addition, all employees who operate university vehicles are subject to random drug­ screenings.
